Lowe Alpine AirZone Trek 35:45 Backpack
This AirZone Trek 35:45 is the perfect mid-sized pack for long distance hiking or minimalist multi-day trips, thanks to its redesigned "Formknit" backsystem, versatile pocket layout and a host of buckles and attachments for your various mountain and trail accessories.
The AirZone Trek 35:45 has been designed for ultimate comfort and convenience. Crafted from super tough, yet lightweight 210D ripstop nylon with a HydroShield (PU) water resistant coating to ensure long-lasting, durable protection that can stand up to challenging weather. It has also been treated with a durable water repellent for added water resistance, and a rain cover for when its really hammering down. One of the main features of this backpack is the fully redesigned Formknit Airzone + backsystem. This new fully suspended, system creates a gap between your bag and the pack itself, allowing constant airflow during use so you can stay cool, comfortable and forcussed on enjoying yourself. Providing the structure and support for the whole pack is a lightweight wire frame and TPU sheet hidden away inside the pack, whilst the section in contact with the body is made from a soft knitted fabric to provide optimum comfort by forming to the shape of your back.; hence the name – "Formknit". This knit is seamless for a chafe and irritation-free wearing experience, and has been cleverly built to be looser in areas that need greater levels of comfort and ventilation, and tighter in areas that need increased reinforcement and support. This new "Formknit" fabric extends as a single piece down to the hipbelt area for increased comfort. The hipbelt itself is incredibly comfortable and transfers the load to your hips for improved comfort during wear, and the "Formknit" fabric's continuous, seamless form helps in the process of comfortable weight distribution. A forward pull webbing belt ensures you can get the hipbelt really snug and secure, for a fit that wont go anywhere you don't want it to. The lumbar pad has also had an overhaul, making it softer than previous generations and with improved ventilation through the foam cut-outs, increasing comfort and support on longer treks. The shoulder straps feature breathable cut-outs to enhance comfort and ventilation and are lined with a fast drying and high wicking fabric to provide premium moisture management capabilities moving water and sweat away from the body and drying quickly for comfortable wearing. You also get a fully adjustable sternum strap, with a built in whistle, to help equalise the load and relieve pressure across your shoulders, and provide easy access to the whistle to alert others to your location in case of emergency. No technical rucksack would be complete without plenty of custom-torso-length-adjustability, and the AirZone is no different. Rather than the traditional method of adjustment which is via the outer of the pack, the AirZone Trek's backsystem is adjusted from the inside. Simply access the main compartment of the bag, undo the Velcro and adjust up and down to your desired length. No forcing your hand between two pieces of Velcro or wrestling with fiddly buckles, just nice and easy simplicity so you can get on with your adventures.
Features top entry access and an adjustable lid that allows you to gain an extra 10 litres of volume if desired, as indicated by the 35 to 45 size. Under the lid is a useful tension strap with a reinforced panel that can be used to store items such as ropes and straps, and a drawcord valance under the lid protects the backpack contents from debris and moisture. The backpack also features a large u-zip running around the front of the pack that allows you to open up the whole pack, where you will see the internal divider that can either be zipped up to create two separate internal compartments, or left unzipped for one big compartment. This means you have more options when it comes to packing your bag and organising its contents. A large hydration sleeve fits a 3 litre water bladder easily and a webbing loop and buckle stop it from sliding to the bottom of the bag for more convenient use. The AirZone Trek 35:45 has also been built to offer a multitude of storage options thanks to its plethora of pockets, these include: a large stretch mesh stash front pocket, two large stretch mesh side pockets – perfect for water bottles, two zipped hipbelt pockets for easy access to snacks and gels or even your phone, an external zipped lid pocket and an internal zipped security pocket under the lid with a useful key clip to store your valuables without worry. Other useful features include the Headlocker ice axe attachment and TipGripper attachment for walking poles, as well as external lash points to attach even more kit if neccesary.
About Lowe Alpine
Greg, Mike and Jeff Lowe were raised on the move. By their twenties, the Lowe brothers were the leading climbers of their generation, but they hit a wall: the external backpacks available at the time were too heavy and unstable to progress further in the mountains. They realised they needed a new kind of pack that could carry gear more securely, whilst letting them move more freely on demanding terrain.
In 1967, Greg Lowe designed, tested and launched the Expedition pack from Lowe Alpine Systems, a revolutionary backpack that gave climbers more freedom of movement in the mountains. It featured an innovative internal frame, compression straps and other never before seen features. This pack changed the outdoor industry forever, becoming the blueprint from which all modern, technical backpacks are derived.
Today their insatiable desire for progress, for building better packs that help people to push the boundaries of what is possible are reflected in Lowe Alpine's range of rucksacks. The carry systems are designed to move with you; precise, considered ergonomics inform fit and unique features that promote freedom of movement are built into their designs to further improve the carry and ensure you can rely on your Lowe Alpine pack trip after trip, year after year.
